A Rustic Wedding At The Mill Barns

I first met Bethany & Ashley at a wedding fair back in 2018, we chatted about their plans and I was thrilled when they asked me to shoot their Mill Barns Wedding Photography in January 2019. Arriving at this gorgeous venue, I knew that the couple and their guests were going to be in for a fantastic day of celebrating. I wandered the grounds marveling at the amazing architecture of the barns, the sculpted gardens, and the lovely Shropshire countryside.

Bethany was getting ready in the bridal room, a bespoke area that was private for her, her bridesmaids and family. Ashley arrived soon after to set up some decorations and get ready himself in one of the unique rooms with the help of his bestman (also his dad). Guests gathered in the main foyer of the venue to enjoy some arrival drinks before the main ceremony began.

The couple enjoyed their intimate wedding ceremony within the Mill Wheel Barn, a delightful space with beautiful natural light and great acoustics for talking and singing. Once the formal part of their day was completed, Bethany & Ashley exited their ceremony through a flurry of confetti and enjoyed welcome drinks in the Mill Stone Barn before mingling and enjoying hugs of congratulations for their family and friends.

Portraits Around The Mill Pond

Being a January wedding, we were pretty lucky to have some great weather to enjoy the grounds of this amazing venue. Before the wedding breakfast, we had a good wander around the barn and over the bridges to the intimate gardens around the Mill Pond. Bethany & Ashley stopped in a few places to enjoy a few minutes together but as always, the portrait session was informal as we just enjoyed a good walk and talk together.

Mill Pond Barn Wedding Breakfast

The couple decorated their wedding breakfast in keeping with the rustic setting of their wedding. They elected for natural wildflowers displayed within their favorite beverage bottles along with homemade candy wedding favors. Once the couple was welcomed into their meal, a guest from each table was handed a chef’s hat, apron, and carving knife which caused some excited chatter amongst the guests. Bethany and Ashley decided on a ‘Host Your Own Roast’ option for their meal which was great fun and really brought all the guests together on each table. Large joints of meat were served and the carvers dished up a delicious plate of food to the delight of each guest.

Mill Barns Wedding Party

After enjoying a round of speeches, the guests made their way back into the Mill Stone Barn to relax before the evening party began. Bethany & Ashley spent some time greeting their evening guests before cutting their wedding cake and taking to the floor for their first dance as man and wife.

So a Massive Congratulations to an awesome couple, it’s been a pleasure to get to know you both and join you on your wedding day. Thanks so much for having me as your Mill Barns Wedding Photographer!!
